Artist Statement
My work is semi abstract with reference to nature. It is positive, colorful, rhythmic, and lively. My goal is to create work that uplifts the spirit every time you see it, and let the viewer interpret the forms as they see them. I am inspired by nature and by the colors that surround me. Many of my forms have botanical references. My work has shifted since moving to South Carolina, the colors are brighter and more of a reflection of my new, peaceful surroundings. My pieces are made of cut wood and painted with layers of oil paint. The shapes sing and dance and even the shadows are alive with energy. My work defies category as it meshes sculpture and painting into a new category of free formed relief painting. Every piece is a celebration.
