Becky Hyatt Rickenbaker
Artist Biography
Becky Hyatt Rickenbaker creates realistic, representational acrylic paintings on canvas, focusing on wildlife, nature, landscapes, and portraits of both people and pets. Her work is inspired by organic beauty, light, emotion, and the quiet observations of daily life. Her art has received numerous honors, including the South Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Print of the Year (1992). Her illustrations and designs are displayed on the Lexington, SC, Veterans Memorial Monument; she designed Newberry College’s wolf mascot; and was also a contributing artist for several books including State of the Heart: South Carolina Writers on the Places They Love, Volume 2 (University of South Carolina Press).
A native of Summerville, SC, she spent 31 years in the Lexington and Columbia areas and eight years in Tryon, NC, operating her own studio and participating in a vibrant local arts community. With a professional creative career that has included both advertising and fine art simultaneously, Becky now paints full-time from her home studio located in Conway, South
